Hey, I'm Carley.

I work in venture capital at Cornell Tech, Cornell University's technology campus in NYC. On the side, I'm building my own small businesses, and sharing what I learn along the way.

A Few Things I Believe

  1. Owning your time is the only real wealth. Titles, raises, and impressive job descriptions don't make you free. Controlling your calendar does.
  2. The "supposed to" path is a trap. Optimize for lifetime income, happiness, and sustainability.
  3. Solo founders are the new venture-backed startup. AI just dropped the cost of building a real business by 90%.
  4. Moms in their late 30s are perfectly positioned to start a business. Real networks, financial cushion, and clarity about what matters.
  5. The dominant startup narrative in higher education is incomplete. It only teaches one playbook: venture, scale, high-growth. A growing segment of learners wants durable, lifestyle-aligned, income-generating ventures, and no one is teaching that.
